Beaded Flower Painted with Color Magic |
I experimented with a product called Color Magic. It comes in a half
ounce bottle with applicator brush, like nail polish. It's a permanent
enamel-like paint coating that can be used on almost any material. The
colors can be blended.
Color Magic requires no firing, is dry to the touch in 10 minutes, but allow to cure for 24 hours. Clean with solvent and work in a well-ventilated area. I don't remember where I got it so search for "color magic paint" to find it. I had a beaded flower that was a dingy white so I decided to try it on that. The color, especially the green is just one color of green. It's somewhat shaded because I wanted it that way. I would need to use more paint to get a more solid color. It takes a while to get paint on the whole bead because they spin while you paint. My friend Susan told me about Pebeo Vitrea 160 Paint Markers available from Dick Blick. It's also available as paint. You let the paint dry for 24 hours then bake in a 325 oven (160 c) for 40 minutes. I'd like to see what happens with heat setting but I don't have a dedicated oven for crafts. DO NOT heat set in your cooking oven or in your kitchen. |
